DIY: Natural Texturizing Spray

Before Highly Zen was born, I ran my own personal website that was pretty much just based on living naturally. My goal was to work my way up to using only products that I had made myself (that stopped once I was living the nomad life) and one of those products was a texturizing spray! I had cleverly named it my Beachy Tresses Spray, but alas, I no longer live in a beachy place so the name is no longer fitting. Texturizing Spray it is!

The great thing about this spray is that you’ve probably got a majority of what you need already in your home and if you don’t, you should be able to find it at your nearest grocery store. Also, it takes less than 5 minutes to throw together.

Needed:
*spray bottle (10ml is the size I have, but lets get real- unless its travel size, the size isn’t going to matter too much)
*hot water (sink water is fine- hot water is needed to dissolve the salts; don’t make the water too hot or you’ll melt your bottle like I did! oops)
*1-2 tbs epsom salt
*1/4-1/2 tsp sea salt
*1/2 tsp aloe gel (optional- my first batch I didn’t use any as I didn’t have natural aloe gel on hand)
*1/4 tsp conditioner
*few drops essential oil (optional-I used orange)

Mix them all together, shake it around a bit and you’re set! This works great on both dry and damp hair and is a great lazy-go-to when I don’t want to put the effort and time into styling my hair.

A Forewarning for later, it’s an intense brushing session when preparing to get in the shower, so just remember to start brushing your hair at the ends and go about it lightly; at least from what I’ve experienced with this spray, the conditioner kicks in once your hair is wet making it a lot easier to manage.

I hope you enjoy this spray as much as I do! I NEVER get this much volume from anything and it gives me those “wild goddess” locks that I absolutely love, making this spray better than any hair product I’ve ever purchased. I think this spray speaks for itself!

**Just like the Canna Coco Coffee Scrub, exact measurements are not super important making this beyond easy to throw together. Let us know how you like it and what kind of changes you made to the recipe to make it one of your own!

If you want to try the look in this picture, apply the spray all over your hair, wrap it in a bun on top of your head overnight then let it down in the morning. Have fun with your new wild locks, stoned yogis ॐ
